Purpose
The SC Enterprise Architecture (SCEA) provides a framework for making strategic technology investment decisions on a cost-effective, enterprise basis, in such a way as to meet the diverse business needs of agencies in the executive branches of state government.
The SCEA categorizes technology into eight domains or groups, which include the major technology components utilized by most state agencies. Technical experts from across State government developed standards for each discipline within each domain.
Information Solutions Technology Committee
To oversee the SCEA, the Information Technology Solutions Committee (ITSC) was formed. The ITSC represents all state agencies and is comprised of a total of seventeen (17) representatives that are either elected or appointed. Thirteen (13) members of the Information Technology Solutions Committee represent functional groups (i.e., public safety, environmental, education, etc.) of state agencies. It is believed that agencies in these functional groups share many of the same technology needs, issues and concerns, and this arrangement should ensure that the interests of these agencies are adequately presented to, and addressed by, the Information Technology Solutions Committee. The remaining members of the ITSC consist of three (3) at-large members and one permanent member, the Division of State Information Technology's Deputy Director for Enterprise Projects and Portfolio Management.
The eight domains are:
- Presentation Services
- Communication Services
- Computing Services
- Security
- Enterprise Applications
- ITIL®
- Knowledge Management
- Business Continuity
Current Status
Thus far, the ITSC has adopted most of the technology standards that now govern the acquisition of information technology throughout state government (see Taxonomy). Details regarding these standards, as well as other ITSC business can be found on this website.
